CV and Profile

Jens is an economist by training with degrees from Kiel University, Germany (Diplom-Volkswirt), and the University of Chicago (M.A.. Social Sciences). He also spent time as an undergraduate at Emory University.

 

From 1993 to 2003 he was at McKinsey&Co., Inc. where he became partner in 1998 and Manager of the Hamburg Office in 2000.

 

In 2003, Jens joined Vodafone as Corporate Strategy Director covering strategic planning and projects as well as new business and organisational development issues.

 

From 2005 to 2008, Jens served as Group Director of Terminals. In this capacity, he was responsibly for global device category management and purchasing as well as technical development and user experience. Local terminals teams in 25 Vodafone markets reported into his function.

 

Oct 2008, Jens was appointed CEO of Vodafone Netherlands, a two billion Euros revenues operating company with five million customers and 3,500 employees based in Amsterdam.

 

He moved on to become CEO of Vodafone Germany in April 2012 and resigned from this role in June 2015. In 2013, Vodafone Germany acquired Kabel Deutschland Holding AG, the country's leading cable operator, which re-enforced the position as Vodafone's largest and most converged operating company globally. The consolidated company serves in excess of 40 million customers and generates roughly 10 billion Euros revenues. Jens' roles included chairman of the KDH AG board.

 

Jens was born on 20 November 1966 in Kirchhellen, close to Germany's Ruhr area. He is married to Andrea with four daughters and enjoys running, skiing and reading on history and current affairs.
